Social Worker

Mount St. Mary Hospital is currently seeking a Social Worker for temporary part time (28 hours a week) for December 2017 to December 2018 for our 200 bed “complex care” residential facility in downtown Victoria.

$33.61 to $41.94 / hour, plus 12.6% for vacation and stat holidays. Covered by the terms and conditions in the Health Sciences Professionals Bargaining Association/HEABC Collective Agreement.

The Social Worker adds to the quality of life of people living at Mount St. Mary Hospital by developing and preparing social work assessments, planning interventions, counselling residents and families to facilitate changes and to achieve established goals and objectives. Responsible to coordinate new admissions, discharges and transfers.

Baccalaureate degree in Social Work from an approved university;

Current registration under the Social Workers’ Registration Act;

Eligibility for membership in the British Columbia Association of Social Workers;

Three (3) years recent related work experience in a long term care setting.

Food Service Aides

Mount St. Mary Hospital is currently seeking casual on-call Food Service Aides to assist residents with dietary needs such as preparing, portioning and serving meals.

Food Service Aides assist residents with dietary needs such as preparing, portioning and serving meals. The shifts may be scheduled in advance and/or on short notice. The casual rate of pay is $18.31 per hour plus 12.2% in lieu of vacation and statutory holidays.

Resident Care Aides (registered with CACHWR)

The Resident Care Aide adds to the quality of life of people who live at Mount Saint Mary Hospital by assisting residents with their activities of daily living, performing simple nursing procedures, and supporting their emotional, spiritual and social needs. Maintains an environment of resident-centered care by enabling resident choice, individualized care, and resident/family involvement in care decisions. Works collaboratively with the Resident Care Team and House Team to provide a service that meets Resident Care Standards.

The Licensed Practical Nurse promotes the quality of life of people living at Mount St. Mary Hospital by assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the nursing care for their own assignment within the full scope of practice as determined by the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of BC current legislative scope of practice and Hospital Policy. Registered Nurses (current registration with CRNBC)

The Registered Nurse / Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RN/RPN) enhances the quality of life of people living at Mount St. Mary Hospital by working collaboratively and in partnership with the interdisciplinary team in the provision of resident-centered care. This includes promoting resident choices, individualized care plans, encouraging resident and family involvement in care decisions and supporting continuity and consistency of care. Utilizing an outcome-oriented approach and reflecting evidence-informed practice, the RN/RPN provides direct nursing care designed to meet the needs of residents and their families. Works in partnership with other members of the interdisciplinary team by sharing information, demonstrating and/or providing guidance on clinical care. Practices in accordance with the College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia (CRNBC) or the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of British Columbia (CRPNBC) Standards of Nursing Practice and the Mission and Values of the hospital.
