April 23rd Update from CEO

There are no known cases of Covid-19 at Mount St. Mary Hospital

Good afternoon:

Please accept this update on the outbreak in Burdett and Humboldt Houses.

Residents living in these two Houses remain in isolation. The residents and staff have not shown any symptoms of Covid-19. A team of staff who are limited to working in the two affected Houses are providing care and services to the residents.

I do wish to share with you that the dedication and compassionate care all our staff have shown to all our residents has been exceptional during this time of concern, as it is at all times.

We continue to work with our public health officials and Island Health to ensure enhanced control measures are in place to protect the health of all residents and staff.

All social visits on Monday, April 26th are cancelled as residents are receiving their second vaccination that day. The majority of residents will again receive the Moderna vaccine while a few residents who have recently joined the Mount St. Mary family will receive the vaccine they received in the community.

The opportunity to return to an expanded visiting schedule including room visits and residents outings will be reviewed the week of May 10th. We look forward to sending out detailed information about the online social visit booking website on Monday, April 26th.

With thanks for your continued support, take good care.
