Enhanced Surveillance at Mount St. Mary
As of 6pm today, April 18, 2021, Island Health has placed Burdett House at Mount St. Mary Hospital on enhanced surveillance for Covid-19.
One resident in Burdett House has a confirmed case of Covid-19. Island Health believes this case of Covid-19 was acquired in the community and that there is a low risk of transmission to other residents and staff.
As a result, residents living in this House are being tested for Covid-19 tonight. All staff who have worked in this House will be tested on Monday morning.
We expect Island Health to complete the necessary testing by end of day tomorrow and we should be able to provide an update to all families by Wednesday morning.
At this time, social visits for Burdett House are cancelled. All other social visits will proceed as scheduled.
If you have questions about the enhanced surveillance, you can contact me at 250-480-3101.
