Dear Residents, Families & Friends.

Here we are in February 2022 already! The crocuses are popping up and Spring is on the horizon.

Please accept the update below:

    1. There is to be one designated visitor names by the resident or the resident’s POA, TDSM and/or primary contact.
    2. IF the identified designated visitor is unable to visit for a period of time, more than 1 week, then another visitor may be designated.
    3. Essential Visits are approved by the resident’s Clinical Care Team based on special care needs including for end-of-life.
    4. All visitors (12 years of age and older) must provide proof of being fully vaccinated and continue to be screened for COVID-19 symptoms and risk, and have a rapid test conducted by our Greeters prior to visiting with their loved one.
    5. All visitors must wear the medical mask provided by Mount St. Mary properly throughout their visit and must not take it off at any time. Visitors may not consume beverages or foodstuffs while visiting.
    6. Residents may go on outings either alone or in the company of another individual. We encourage individuals accompanying residents on outings to be fully vaccinated, wear a mask, observe good hand hygiene practices and maintain social distancing from others i.e. the general public.
    7. Please remember to stay home should you have any COVID-19 symptoms including a scratchy throat.

  1. Unfortunately our Hairdresser is on an extended leave and will hopefully return in the spring. We have been unsuccessful to date in recruiting a replacement and appreciate your support of Trudy, and your patience.

  1. We are hopeful in having our new Dentist join the Mount St. Mary Team in the coming weeks.

  1. Our 10-day declared Outbreak contained to two residents in Cedar House was declared over at midnight on January 28th. With thanks for your support, and congratulations to the Mount St Mary Team for their excellent Infection Prevention & Control practices.

  1. Our Board of Directors have developed our Strategic Plan 2022-2025 and invite you to review it (attached) and provide input please. Please send your comments to myself. Our Strategic Plan will guide our programs and services over the next three years.

  1. We have good news to share. We have been successful in securing funding to have 10 new House Support Workers join the Mount St. Mary Team in March. This is from the Government of BC Heath Career Access Program launched last year. Our current 14 House Support Workers will return from Camosun College in May and ! Please see the link https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/covid-19/economic-recovery/work-in-health-care  These new staff members will work and study to become Resident Care Aides in 2022 and remain on staff with us.

With best wishes and kind regards,
