Dear Family and Friends:
This year, we strongly encourage all visitors to get the flu vaccine. This will help protect you, your family, the residents, and our staff. As you know, our Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry says getting the influenza vaccine is the most effective way to prevent contracting the influenza virus.
While we at Mount St. Mary remain hyper vigilant around preventing the Covid-19, the influenza virus can be as life-threatening to the residents. We know you want to keep your loved ones and the folks providing care and services to them safe
During this unprecedented time of the pandemic and as we await the production of a vaccine for the novel corona virus, it is very important to protect ourselves from influenza.
Should you, your family, or your loved one contract influenza, the symptoms require self-isolation and a COVID–19 test.
If someone living in your household (including children attending school) has influenza-like symptoms, you will need to stay at home and await the results of their COVID–19 test before your visits resume. With the current testing levels, there are waits of up to 4 days for an appointment to have a swab and 1 – 2 days for results.
Thank you for everything you do to keep yourselves, your families, and the residents safe.
Kind regards and very best wishes for a lovely Thanksgiving,
Sara
