Resources for Families

When a loved one moves into a residential care facility it can be a difficult transition for family members as well. Please review the following links to community agencies that can provide support for family members.

The ALS Society of BC is dedicated to providing direct support to ALS patients, along with their families, and caregivers, to ensure the best quality of life possible while living with ALS.

The Alzheimer’s Society of BC is the only province-wide non-profit organization dedicated to helping people concerned with or facing dementia to have the confidence and skills to maintain quality of life.

The Family Caregivers Network Society provides support to those providing care to a parent, spouse or partner, or to another adult family member or friend. The person being cared for can be elderly, in poor health or disabled, and be living in his or her own home, with you or in a care facility.

The Huntington Society of BC understands what you are going through, whether you have the disease yourself, are caring for someone with the disease, are gene positive or are at-risk of inheriting the disease. They are a not-for-profit charitable organization which raises funds to deliver counselling and other support services to individuals and families living with Huntington disease.

The MS Society  provides services to people with multiple sclerosis and their families and funds research to find the cause and cure for this disease.

Parkinson's Society BC is a vibrant and welcoming non-profit society whose purpose is to strengthen clients', families' and communities' ability to manage the physical, psychological and social effects of Parkinson's and epilepsy.
