We are pleased to inform you that COVID – 19 Vaccines for long term care residents will be available starting Monday, January 11, 2021.
There has been careful planning regarding providing this safety measure to our residents. Mount St. Mary is following directions from our public health authorities, including Island Health. We understand that the vaccine will be administered by Island Health staff.
Residents who are able to give informed consent will be contacted directly with the information about the mRNA Vaccine and will sign a consent form if they wish to be vaccinated.
For residents with a Temporary Substitute Decision-Maker/Personal Guardian/Representative, you have been emailed the information and consent form. Please make sure this signed form is returned to Mount St. Mary by 4pm on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 if you want the resident to receive the vaccine.
The resident’s physician will also determine the advisability of the resident receiving the vaccine and, if the physician’s recommendation is that it is contraindicated for the resident, it will be communicated to you.
More information about the Covid-19 vaccine from the BC CDC can be found here.
