Mount St. Mary Hospital Awarded Three-Year CARF Accreditation

    August 1, 2024

We’re excited to announce that following our recent CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) site survey on June 23 and 24, we have been awarded the highest level of recognition possible — a full three-year accreditation. This is a significant achievement that affirms the high standards we uphold in delivering compassionate, person-centred care and services.
The CARF surveyors highlighted numerous strengths across our organization, including our focus on continuous quality improvement, collaborative team culture, innovative programing, and the professionalism demonstrated by staff in every department.

Some of the highlights of the report were:
The frontline staff members are highly motivated and well trained in their respective fields. They demonstrated great teamwork and are the most significant asset of the organization. The residents, family members, and external stakeholders reported that staff members are compassionate, are enthusiastic in working with them, and create a positive environment for services and programs to occur.
Mount St. Mary Hospital has a strong therapeutic recreation program for its residents. The program provides activities that reflect residents’ choices, individual culture, and preferences. The recreation team is commended for the exceptional garden and Snoezelen programs, demonstrating a high level of commitment to service.
Mount St. Mary Hospital is commended for its volunteer program and innovative approaches to support for the residents. The trishaw program is a shining example. Not only does this enhance the quality of life and provide innovative enrichment to residents, but it also fosters continued fun, play, discovery, and critical integration of residents into their communities.
The social work and spiritual care service delivery teams demonstrate a deep commitment to ensuring that the personhood and spiritual needs of residents are not only met but are also involved in all relevant stages of the life course journey, applying a strong commitment to ethical and moral frameworks when possible and appropriate

This accomplishment is a direct result of the incredible dedication, compassion, and professionalism our staff bring to work each and every day. Whether you work directly with residents, behind the scenes, or in support services, your contributions made this success possible.
